Updated: Tuesday, March 24, 2009 High Adventure is what most Scouts want during their Scouting years. For most youth, a high adventure trek is remembered for a lifetime. On wilderness treks of a week or longer, you can push yourself toward a mountaintop, wrestle a canoe through rapids, sail a ship on the open sea, try scuba diving, and experience many other exciting adventures. NATIONAL HIGH-ADVENTURE PROGRAMS - For real excitement beyond your council, it's hard to beat the National High-Adventure bases of the Boy Scouts of America. Designed for the older Boy Scouts and Explorers, each base offers the training, equipment, and support you need to set out on wilderness treks that challenge your skills, strength, and willpower. HIGH-ADVENTURE TREKS - The BSA operates four high adventure bases: Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, Northern Tier High Adventure Base, and Double H High Adventure Base. All have year round programs. In addition, many larger Boy Scout Councils throughout the nation offer accredited High Adventure programs.
